When the blood is circulated through your body, the force put on the blood vessel is called blood pressure. Blood pressure is said to be higher when it passes through narrow arteries. Such conditions also make the heart to work harder. It is normal for the blood pressure to be higher during exercise, stress or emotions. But persistent high blood pressure must be treated.

Headaches, nose bleeding and sweating can be sign of high blood pressure or hypertension. There are cases of heart attack, stroke or brain, vision or kidney problems with no previous symptoms of hypertension. This is the reasons the hypertension is also called as “silent-killer”.

What do blood pressure numbers mean?

When some one says the blood pressure is 120/80, they are talking about the Systolic and the Diastolic measurements used to measure blood pressure. Systolic (120) is the level of the blood pressure when the heart is beating and diastolic (80) is the level when the heart is at rest in between beats. The normal blood pressure measurement is 120/80.
